Acer palmatum 'Emerald Lace' is a chance seedling that was grown by David Sabo of North Carolina. It is a small spreading, weeping tree that grows to about three to four feet tall and about six to eight feet wide. It is hardy in USDA Zones 5 - 9. It may be planted in full sun to part shade. We have observed that our specimen, planted in part shade, performs well in its location.

'Emerald Lace' is in the Dissectum Group. It has deep green, lacy foliage with pendulous branches. It is fast growing. The fall color is an attractive red. 'Emerald Lace' is both heat and cold tolerant.
